SYNC2 - Reverse Camera Programming

Post by cmartino » Sun Sep 01, 2019 8:50 pm

Hi all

I’m retrofitting a reversing camera to my partners Ford Galaxy MK4 2016 model, it’s fitted with the SYNC2 and I’ve modified the second bit in the 3rd byte block on the APIM.

All seems well, after a couple of seconds unit now says service rear camera (it’s not connected yet).

My question is regarding the camera. I see on the schematics the sync takes a high/low video feed for the camera, seems logical.

However on the Genuine ford reversing camera there it’s positions for LINBUS high/low, does it need a linbus connection, or is it unused in the most part? Other than that it only requires 12v, and the output video feed

Thanks!

If its not Ford oe and a ebay special you can expect problems. Loads of posts about this.

I'm getting a genuine one, but my question is are LINBUS connections used?

I've attached the component end view from ETIS.

Ref:
2 VDN04 (BK) .35 CTRL MOD. - LIN BUS # SPDJB 4 N/A
2 VDN04 (BK) .5 CTRL MOD. - LIN BUS # SPDJB 4 N/A

Are these used?

Sorry for the double post...

The only information I need is where exactly to connect the LINBUS connection, do I tap it off something in the trunk or is it an output on the APIM?
