ORIGINAL BACKUP FILE FORMAT.

Post by k5rcd » Sat Aug 17, 2019 12:33 pm

As a new user, I did an initial backup of all the modules as recommended, and saved them to documents. They show up as .txt files.
Is that correct format or did I do something wrong?

Thanks.

Well then maybe I am SOL.

I followed the tutorial instructions as best I could, but don't remember being asked what format to use when I saved them. I guess now it's too late to go back and save as built data since I have made changes to some of the modules. I do have an as built printout from Ford, so I can always look and SEE what the original settings were, but it will be a pain if I ever need to go back to original settings for some reason. I reckon I will need to program each of those individually. (I don't know why I might need to do that as I have a good relationship with my local Ford service department).

What I get is a file showing "Read block (whatever)", but nothing showing any hexadecimal code. What I should see, and will I be able to use that to reconfigure to as built data if necessary? I would post images of what I'm talking about, but can't find "how to post image" instructions in this forum. Maybe I'm just overlooking that? I did click on the insert image box but have no idea what to put between the brackets, as the image is on my pc and not on any website.

for scr 2.txt
(2.28 KiB) Downloaded 24 times
I hope this is working.

OK, here is one of the files I copied that shows as a .txt.file instead of a .ab file. Will this work the same regardless?
Can I use this file to return the module to as built parameters?

Also, how on earth did I end up with a .txt file saved instead of .ab file? Did I miss or overlook something? Was there a place I should have changed it? I don't remember being given a choice of what kind of file to save it as.

Thanks

Thank you, but that doesn't address my question.

Is the file I attached able to return my modules to their as built status or not?

If not, have I screwed the pooch and am now without any means to return them to as built parameters, or is there something I can do now to correct the problem? I will soon be creating a file to back up my as modified settings and want to do it correctly. Of course I want to make it an a .ab file, but am not sure how since I evidently messed it up when trying to create the last file.

Also, where did I mess up when saving the files? Was there a place I should have chosen file type .ab that I overlooked?

The tutorials I've seen about backing up don't mention anything about choosing a file type. I guess my PC just automatically saved them as .txt files by default? How can I correct that?

Thanks.

Hi, the attached file is not correct and cannot be written to your module.
Please do not save the log file (as you did) - save the numbers which you see on the tab before. then you will get a file which has a content similar what fordsmax471 posted

How to store them you can see on my website
http://my-ford-focus.de/forscan-programmierung/

do not use the disc button, use the "save all" button !!
