2019 Ranger PSCM U2100 Initial Programming Request

Post by Mmbbg9217 »

Hey everyone,

I recently purchased a repairable 2019 Ranger and needed to replace the power steering rack. After doing some research, I found that I should copy the as built codes from the old rack on FORScan and copy over to the new rack. I thought that would take care of any errors however I still get the U2100 DTC for the PSCM. Is there a way to do the initial configuration on the PSCM with the current build of FORScan? Or is this something that needs to be added by the developers?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Additional info: Using a Microsoft Surface on Windows 10 with the latest build of FORScan. Used 3 different OBD connectors already to see if that was the issue...unfortunately no luck there. 1 wired with HS/MSCAN switch, 1 older wireless one with HS/MSCAN switch, 1 new OBDLink MX+.

when going through motorcraft service, it explains how to do it with the scan tool, i think at this stage it is ford only

What is the issue with your rack? If it's mechanical then just put your old module onto your new rack and the car won't know any different. Calibration may be needed though.

Read this link:
https://www.dtcdecode.com/Ford/U2100

Saving the original As-Build and transferring that data to the new rack may help.

Don't be surprised if more than one controller needs to be programmed to a new software level.

Had to research such a case today. 2017 AU Ranger, new PSCM installed, U2100:55 thrown. Freeze frame says Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) is not calibrated:

The problem is that this car has no service function for SAS calibration! In such cases usually the calibration is stored in factory As Built Data (ABD). But user claims that he uploaded the factory ABD and it didn't help. Asked someone to check workshop manual for us about the U2100:55 :

So the workshop manual says PMI is required. IDS/FDRS PMI for this module does 2 standard things:
- checks module firmware and reflashes it if it doesn't match to required or outdated
- uploads factory ABD.

We have checked firmware files and found that one of firmware files, called Base Configuration, in new PSCM module doesn't match to factory one: current value is EB3C-14D007-ZE, according to the VIN must be EB3C-14D007-LB. We guess this is what causes the problem: if we reflash the firmware files to factory ones, most likely it will fix the problem. Unfortunately user has bad quality adapter so cannot use FORScan v2.4 right now, so unable to check & confirm this idea yet...

It's the best solution, a Ford subscription and J2534-2. The next option would be with IDS and download the flash from the Ford servers, then use the VCM to update/replace the firmware within the control module.

FORScan v2.4 can do the job, but requires good adapter and some skills (so PMI is much simpler). We are going to add PMI to FORScan in the future.

I need this also. I have the same code on my mustang after replacing the EPAS/PSCM.
This is a retrofit btw, so the first rack installed and worked WITHOUT PMI, no error codes.
I had to replace it, and the new one has the configuration error. Instruction say to "pull software" from old module before replacing. No such option in IDS. Only module programming. And when I tried to PMI it with IDS, it wants this file: MY12_MUSTANG_PSCM_CORE_BV4.xml Which I can't find.
Steering works fine thank god.
