1997 F150 Replacement ECM - Sync the Modules?

Post by saleen428 »

I bought a replacement ECM for my F150 that does NOT have PATS. The new ECM will crank, no start. The truck will run on the original ECM. I was told on the F150 forum that I will need to sync the modules (BCM, cluster, ??) but do not know exactly what is meant by this. Please advise and thank you all in advance

the module will require programming with your vin ( if pats is removed then this is 50/5- if required ) , it will also need programming with your as built data , when this is done the pats should then be programmed if required still ?.
i am the same as you just a forscan user still learning .
The search function is there for a reason use it.

The ECM or another module? I bought the ECM from Flagship One and provided my VIN and advised no PATS. They supposedly programmed as such. Sorry, I am not clear on what you are describing.

ok if it came pre-programmed with your vin then ignore what i wrote lol , sorry didnt know it was pre-programmed.

run threw the pat programming anyway to match serieral number for the unit to sync with the other modules ,? make sure you have 2 keys and one is not a clone.

i know on the orignal ford stuff thier is a command to do this, but been awhile so cant remember exactly what it did any more.

Thanks Andy. For further clarification, the truck does not have PATS. I assume when they programmed the ECM they enabled PATS if thats possible. So my question is, can I verify the configuration and disable PATS if it was enabled? Thanks again.

Bump. The replacement PCM was verified by the vendor (Flagship One) as being correct for my VIN. I still have a crank no start with the new one. The original PCM will start the truck. The truck does not have PATS. What do I need to check or sync?

I am getting a DTC B1352. Truck does not have PATS. How do I check if PATS is enabled and or reset it or am I on the wrong path? BTW, the door chime works and the truck starts and runs on the original PCM using all metal key (no chips/no fob)

Does the theft light (PATS) go off with KOEO? I own an automotive repair shop and have used Flagship One before and have had nothing but problems with them. My best guess, a bad PCM. Your year vehicle is plug&play PCM. Even if the VIN was wrong, with PATS removed, it should start. If the VIN is wrong, you'll get a VIN mismatch code, but still start. Bad PCM! Never use Flagship One. Check their Yelp rating.

There is no theft light with KOEO. Engine cranks no start. With original PCM, engine starts and runs.
