Re: Cold start - engine vibrations, changing RPM - what to c

The engine hunting at about the two minute mark and on is caused by the egr valve opening and closing but i am not sure why the ecu is commanding the valve to do this. Last winter i had the same problem with cold start, i cleaned egr and reset but it was still hunting, in my case it only lasted abou...

Re: Cold start - engine vibrations, changing RPM - what to c

yes i think the engine problems could be caused by the bad balance pid readings.
It would be interesting to see what balance pids look like if cylinder 1 and 4 injectors were changed over, to see if the high pid reading followed injector one.

Re: Cold start - engine vibrations, changing RPM - what to c

I would think the high balance reading on cylinder one could be caused by the injector over fueling, when the new injectors are installed it will tell the tail. Not sure what compression values should be on this engine but as all the values are within 15% of each other at the time of testing would h...

Re: Cold start - engine vibrations, changing RPM - what to c

Maybe with the new injectors installed it will fix your problem.
It would be worth getting compression test when injectors are out, it would give you a good idea of the health of your engine.
Let us know how you get on.

Re: Cold start - engine vibrations, changing RPM - what to c

As the egr valve opens and closes the amount of air entering the engine changes, that's why you are seeing the changes in load values.
was egr reset with key on engine off or was engine running.

Re: Cold start - engine vibrations, changing RPM - what to c

Comparing to my car turbo seems to be working correctly, on the warm engine all seems to be working correctly apart from balance readings. On the cold engine it is normal for egr valve to be open at idle when temperature is 13c or above, what is not normal is the egr valves behavior on the cold engi...

Most certainly is if they are replacing injectors free of charge.

Re: Transit 2.2TDci does not always turns on

Diesel engines are supposed to be started with the clutch pressed in, trying to start with clutch out puts extra load on the starter and battery and engine will turn over slower.

Re: Cold start - engine vibrations, changing RPM - what to c

Had a look at your saved file and it shows two of your cylinders in the balance pids at 0.6 and one at 1.3, any more than 25% difference between cylinder pid values would indicate a problem, could be why your idle rpm is erratic. I think as Forscan suggested you should ask the diesel specialist to d...

Was the battery load tested, what is the voltage drop on the other car that jump starts.
