Since your old ECU is not talking you will need to get your As-built configuration from somewhere.

Also may have to deal with PATS. Not sure were it is stored on a CMAX.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but this is how I understand it. First you call it a serial number but I think you mean part number. The last 2 characters of a part number are usually the firmware version. The firmware version gets incremented up with newer versions so a VE is a newer version of...

Try changing your connection type to COM. The MX Bluetooth emulates a COM port.

Other software such as ELMConfig and FoCCCus can program firmware with just an ELM327.
