The phone version does less but is simpler to use and because I leave my adapter in my car (not plugged in) and I always have my phone with me I can access fault codes and live date if a fault occurs when I'm on the road. I regenerate mine by driving in 3rd gear along a highway and keeping the revs at around 3000rpm. The regeneration usually starts within 10 minutes and you should feel a slight surge when it starts. I had the same problem with my Focus and was able to read the last 4 alarm triggers with Forscan. I think it was in the GEM Module.
