Forscan on Win10 Virtual Machine (host: mac)

Postby Fogg » Fri Apr 06, 2018 5:41 pm

Hi ForScan Team,

I am trying to run ForScan on a virtual Win10 machine hosted on an OSX MacBook Air.

The Win10 does see the OBDII device and seems to connect fine via Bluetooth. Within ForScan I also see the device and the correct MAC address is shown. When I try to connect it takes long time and I get the message that connection failed.

The OBDII did work just fine with ForScan Demo on my mobile phone (Android). So I think the device should be ok. Either it is something with Win10 or with the VM.

Did someone succeed in this setup?

Thanks,
Fogg

Hey, Fogg,
I have just installed the extended versions of Forscan on Win7 on Parallels (MBAir).
Did you succeeded with this issue?
I am now going to order the adapter from Ali. I am concerned if I should buy WiFi model, or cable version with the tumbler in order to perform upgrades and modifications in different modules, and not only reading errors...
Thanks for suggestions.

I am not a pro on this yet...

Based on my experience with the Bluetooth one and some thread I read where bluetooth is slow compared to USB I would now go for the USB version if you can live without bluetooth.
Cant promise it to work though... have no USB one (yet...).
