Where to buy a compatible adapter?

Post by algarcon » Wed Dec 23, 2015 8:22 am

Hi, Forescan family!

I have a question that maybe most of us have ever done... "I would like to use FORESCAN but my adapter bought in ebay, amazon,... doesn't work or isn't fully compatible". In my case I bought two, but incompatible :(

Searching in the forum there are some topics where it is explained the reasons of that problem, but I think we can create a section where all of we can put where and when a compatible adapter has been bought, and its price. What do you think?

Regards.
FORESCAN user :)

We have moved this topic to Adapters & Connection forum

Basic recommendations are:

1. ODBLink MX (expensive solution), or may be cheaper alternative that use STN1170/STN2120 family (ELS27, Viaken etc...)
2. J2534 (expensive solution, also majority have no MS-CAN support and BT interface, so only applicable for Windows version) - CanTieCar, VCMII etc
3. iCar v1/iCar v2 (not v3) - cheap, but no MS-CAN support (that may be necessary for vehicles after 2004)
4. Special "Ford" adapters with mechanical HS/MS CAN switch (still no guarantee it will work stable), but NOT F-Super
5. ...?

Any reference to a reliable market place that offers good quality adapters for reasonable price are welcome.

Does anyone have any information about what the ELS27 & Viaken adaptors do, and how they differ from the ELM clones?

Is it possible to create a thread of verified Compatible adapters?
I know everybody says "just by x" it'll be worth the money... if i'm going to spend a good amount of money, i'll buy an actual scan tool... I do this for my personal vehicles, im not a mechanic by trade, don't need expensive equipment.

Could ther maybe be a thread thas says something along the lines of:
X Adapter X Vehicle (Year, Make, Model, Engine, etc...)

Just to start a database for people looking to start....

I found on another thread that KONNWEI KW902 supposedly works with ForScan... I'll update when mine gets here.

THIS however, does not work... Bad Clone

EDIT: KONNWEI KW902 Does work with Forscan on my 2007 Explorer Sport Trac 4.0L

You can find many compatible adapters on ebay,Amazon or aliexpress. And for compatible adapter i prefer ELS27 FORSCAN scanner for its powerful function and reasonable price. Of course you have many choice to choose where to buy, i recommed here for i have bought from it: http://www.atsfly.com/wholesale/esl27-f ... anner.html

Els27 is produced in Russia http://els27.ru/en-us/and Viaken Elm V3 http://viaken.pl/pl/polski-elm327-v3-fo ... -2014.html is produced in Poland. Els and Viaken are built on the basis of the chip ST21170 http://www.obdsol.com/solutions/chips/stn1170/ https://www.scantool.net/
